The Children’s Forum Network (CFN) is a child to child advocacy organization committed to creating linkages and spreading knowledge on the rights, responsibilities and welfare of children in Sierra Leone .
This organization was formed on 4th November, 2000. at the end of a two- day workshop held in Freetown the Capital City of Sierra Leone. This workshop was organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs with support from Plan International and UNICEF.
The workshop which brought together over fifty (50) children from various Schools,Institutions,Child care centers and Displaced camps, was aimed at building the capacity of school and out of school children for raising awareness on
the rights,welfare and responsibilities of children in the country.
On 16 June, 2001.the Day of the African Child, the Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED THE Children’s Forum Network in Freetown
From that time, efforts have been made by succeeding Children’s Forum Network executive to established branches in all the parts of the country.
In the Western Area alone there are more than 60 branches of the organization, with more branches being formed in Freetown and the provincial headquarters town of Bo, Kenema, Makeni and other part of the country.
